As one of the supreme authorities of the Vajrayana tradition and holder of the seat of Palpung Monastary, the birthplace of the Rimay movement, Chamgön Kenting Tai Situpa is the Senior Advisor of the Shangpa Foundation.

Kalu Dorje Chang

Kalu Dorje Chang was the holder of the Shangpa Lineage in his lifetime. He founded dharma and retreat centers worldwide and initiated the gathering of his spiritual heirs within the Kagyu Lama International Association in 1978 to encourage harmony and exchanges within the lineage. The Shangpa Foundation is its natural continuation.

Bokar Rinpoche

Bokar Dorje Chang

Bokar Dorje Chang was the successor and main holder of Kalu Dorje Chang’s lineage and activities. He presided over the Kagyu Lama International Association from 1989 to 2004.

Kyabje Jamgön Kongtrül Lodrö Chokyi Nyima is the fourth incarnation of Jamgön Kongtrül Lodrö Thayé. He is the Vajra Master of Kagyu Tekchen Ling Monastary in Lava, India.

Kyabje Kalu Rinpoche is the first Kalu Tulku. He is the Vajra Master of the Sonada and Salugara Monasteries, India.

Council of Elders

The Shangpa Foundation is coordinated by a Council of Elders, a non-hierarchical circle of vajra brothers and sisters made up of lamas who have been responsible for congregations or centers for more than 25 years.

The Association of the Foundation is the same as the Council of Elders of the Kagyu Lama International.
