Council of Elders

The Shangpa Foundation is coordinated by the Council of Elders, a non-hierarchical circle of vajra brothers and sisters made up of lamas who have been responsible for congregations or centers for more than 25 years.

Within the Council, the members cooperate among peers in a non-hierarchical way with a spirit of solidarity and unity dedicated to the Dharma, tradition, lineage and all sentient beings. The Shangpa Council of Elders operates under the supreme authorities of the Vajrayana tradition. The great Tulkus connected to the Dashang Kagyu are its special advisors including the Situ Tulkus, the Kongtrül Tulkus, the Gyaltsab Tulkus, the Kalu Tulkus and the Bokar Tulkus.

Shangpa Network

The Shangpa Foundation facilitate the Shangpa Network, which is an effort to connect Rinpoches, Lamas, and practitioners to encourage mutual understanding, collaboration, and the sharing of resources within the Shangpa tradition.

The General Assembly in February 2012 elected to invite all Dashang Kagyü Lamas to join the Shangpa Network. All Shangpa Rinpoches and Lamas are members by right. All are invited to participate in the activities of the foundation and in any of the projects of interest. If you are a Shangpa Lama and are not yet mentionned, please don’t hesitate to contact us to join the network.

Shangpa Resource Center

The Shangpa Foundation develops the Shangpa Resource Center, a collaborative and multilingual project that enables the sharing, preservation, and access to authentic documents and texts of the Shangpa lineage. It also constitutes a valuable database for translation work, research, and university studies. Its contents are accessible to the public, to students, to practitioners, and to lamas and vajracaryas. Various levels of access rights are given according to the instructions of content suppliers and to the instructions of advisory Lamas. It is a participative project which will evolve according to contributions and international collaboration.

Shangpa Kagyu Network Members

The Foundation and the Network develop projects of common interest, which are then implemented with the help of the Executive Committee.

All Shangpa Rinpoches and Lamas are members by right; all are welcome to join and actively participate in projects of common interest for the lineage.
